Women Filmmakers of Zimbabwe presents the 15th annual International Images Film Festival for Women dedicated to screenings of women centered narratives.
Celebrating the best in women’s cinema, the International Images Film Festival for Women (IIFF) will present a broad program of feature films, shorts, documentaries and special events. The program has been put together to provide entertaining value to our audiences, something for them to celebrate and be part of in these difficult times. This years festival line up is packed with strong women and man contributing to the positive representation of women in cinema.
IIFF opens on Friday the 26th of August at Borrowdale Ster Kinekor. The festival screenings will run from the 27th of August to the 2nd of September with free entry screenings on all films at all venues . The closing ceremony will be held at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe marks the end of the festival with an awards ceremony taking place on the 3rd September 2016.
IIFF is honoured to welcome prominent filmmakers from the African continent and beyond, who are ready to meet the audiences and local filmmakers. Three Filmmakers will be available at the festival to talk about their films. Amongst them is Onyeka Nwelue from Nigeria with his documentary house of Nwapa, Joyce Chavula Mango from Malawi with her award winning film Lilongwe, and Wilson Rumisha from Tanzania with his film Aisha.
IIFF is very excited to share with our audiences this rare opportunity to learn about the creative vision behind these films from the directors in person. It is our hope that everyone enjoys exploring diversity of world cinema through this year’s program.
This years festival is an engaging and exciting program with films from thirty different countries which have been curated by a committed team determined to present new works each year of what is being done across the world in support of women and their stories. Emerging and established filmmakers are taking part in the festival, thus enabling the film industry and general public to experience the power of story telling through film. Be assured that the nine day event will have the latest films, discussions and workshops and special events for film enthusiasts.
