The Zimbabwe Association of Female Photographers (ZAFP) – in association with HIVOS, The Royal Netherlands Embassy and other partner organisations – last week launched a series of human rights advocacy posters in Harare. A group of seven member photographers and three associate members produced the series of images, which were hung along the walk way within Harare Gardens.
Issues surrounding Human Rights in Zimbabwe are the focus of many projects, organisations and individuals at the as Zimbabwe realigns many of its laws for consistent with the new Constitution.
Participating photographers include journalists Annie Mpalume and Tsitsi Ndabambi, professional photographers Henry Hakulandaba, Steven Chikosi, Khumbulani Mpofu, Mana Meadows, Stella Saburi, Nancy Mteki, Yvonne Pinkas and artist Kresiah Mukwazhi and includes rights issues such as environmental degradation, access to health, employment and education.
The exhibition is funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy through HIVOS Zimbabwe and is the final part of a larger project entitled ‘Survivors and Activists’, which Her Zimbabwe was recently involved in as part of our third birthday celebrations. Posters will be given to various stakeholders for use in their activist endeavours.
