Her Zimbabwe has been selected as one of 13 FRIDA Young Feminist Fund grantees in a competitive selection process that saw over 1 000 young women’s organisations across the world apply for funding in this year’s cycle. One of three organisations chosen from across Africa, Her Zimbabwe is also the only grantee selected from southern Africa.
Not intended as an extended form of support, the small grants are aimed at providing financial assistance for the ongoing work and projects of new female-led start-ups, as well as helping them to initiate new activities. Grantees are chosen annually through a nomination process that involves an independent selection committee as well as peer review of initiatives by fellow nominees selected as the top 150 initiatives.
Grants are open to initiatives whose main constituents are women below the age of 30.
